Worldwide community dedicated to a peaceful revival of Islam
The Light is brought to you by the Ahmadiyya Muslim community - a worldwide community dedicated to a peaceful revival of Islam and peace amongst all faiths.
Established in India in 1889 it set up the UK chapter in 1913 and in 1926 built London’s first purpose built mosque (in Putney). It now has one hundred branches across Britain as well as the largest mosque in Western Europe – the Baitul Futuh mosque in South London.
The community believes that Islam, which was established over 1,400 years ago by the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), is a universal religion of peace, with a simple but complete message for mankind to develop and maintain a living relationship with a living God and to live in perfect harmony with His creation.
This message was revived by the founder of our community, Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (peace be upon him) and Ahmadi Muslims are the only community of Muslims to have accepted him as the Promised Messiah and Mahdi who was prophesied for this age.
The community stands for education, integration and interfaith peace. It is also committed to engage with local communities and work for the common good and raises hundreds of thousands of pounds every year for British charities.
The community runs its own global satellite television channel MTA International available on Sky 787, see www.mta.tv and is now proud to be on Spectrum 558kHz.
