An award-winning Sikh Broadcaster with a media career spanning more than two decades, Lucky has just been awarded an O.B.E. in the 2009 New Years Honours List, for her services to Radio Broadcasting.
In 1996 Amrit Vela Radio was launched on Spectrum Radio with phenomenal success leading to an honorary degree from the University of East London. In 2007 Lucky received the Media Professional of the Year Award from Cherie Blair at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards for her contribution to the Sikh Community in the UK and broadcasting.
Meaning ‘The Lake of Holy Nectar’ in Punjabi, Amritsar is home to Harmandir Sahib, also known as the Golden Temple, the spiritual and cultural centre of the Sikh religion. This important Sikh shrine attracts more visitors than the Taj Mahal in Agra. Amrit Vela Radio plays a mix of devotional music and prayer music for the Sikh Asian Punjabi community in London.
