Sout-al-Khaleej from London backup

HOW MANY?

500,000 Arabs live in the UK, most in London.  They come from Egypt, Morocco, Palestine, Yemen, Lebanon, the Gulf States and Iraq. They are doctors, professionals, students and hotel and catering workers.  500,000 visit London every year.  Most come from the rich Gulf States for the shopping and attractions of Europe’s most Arab friendly city.

WHERE DO THEY LIVE?

SW1, NW London, W2 and W1 - particularly around Edgware Road. Westminster and Knightsbridge have the highest density of Arabic speakers in London and are two of the most expensive areas to live.

HOW TO REACH THEM THROUGH THE SPECTRUM RADIO NETWORK?

London is a centre for communications with the Arab world.  In 2009 Spectrum launched Sout al Khaleej, a 24 hour Arabic music service coming from London and Qatar in the Gulf.  It’s a great station for Gulf Arabs but gets listeners in London from all arab backgrounds.  It’s on Spectrum 558 AM and Spectrum DAB and at www.spectrumradio.net. Go into any Arab coffee shop and they’ll be listening to Sout-al-Khaleej.
