Chinese Spectrum Radio

Chinese Spectrum is famed within the Chinese Community for raising the profile of many Community Charities.

HOW MANY?

There are 120,000 Chinese in London. Chinese people constitute the fourth largest group in London (behind the Indians, Pakistanis and Bangladeshis respectively).

The educational success of the younger, British-born Chinese has brought professional and economic prosperity to the Chinese community and it’s the fastest growing ethnic group in the UK.

WHERE DO THEY LIVE?

It’s the oldest Chinese community in Europe and the Chinese are spread more or less across the entire city but mainly in Barnet, Haringey, Waltham Forest, Hackney, Southwark and Westminster.

London’s first Chinatown sprang up around the East End’s Limehouse district in the 1880s. It remained a vibrant community until the Blitz and a postwar slump in shipping led to its decline. Only a few street names, and a Chinese Sunday School stand as a reminder.

HOW TO REACH THEM THROUGH THE SPECTRUM RADIO NETWORK?

The principal language of the London Chinese community is Cantonese. Chinese Spectrum is available daily in Cantonese, Mandarin and English from 6pm-8pm on Spectrum Online and 6pm-7pm on Spectrum DAB.
