Gerry Byrne, the Award-Winning presenter of the Irish Spectrum Radio and Irish Radio Roadshow, was born in Co. Cavan, Ireland. From an early age, always had a keen interest in music. Whilst attending college, in his spare time, Gerry began to help out and work on the local radio stations and soon became a full time presenter with his own very popular daily programme on a number of different stations.
For many years Gerry worked in almost every facet of Irish radio moving to London in the early '90s after having been involved in the industry since the golden age of pirate radio in Ireland in the 1980's. This paved the way for Gerry to become the multi award-winning presenter of the Irish Spectrum. Gerry now uses his well-established position in Irish Radio Programming to make a difference to various charities, whether it is through announcements live on air or appearing with the weekly Irish Radio Roadshow all over the Southeast of England.
As well as the weekly 'Irish Chart Countdown', the programme includes features such as the weekly ‘What's On’ guide, community news and the popular Irish Sports Update with comprehensive coverage on all Irish sporting activities, including GAA, Soccer and Irish Rugby. Irish Spectrum is predominantly targeted at the London Irish audience, which now forms one of the largest ethnic communities in the Capital. Research has also shown that the type of programming broadcast by Irish Spectrum continues to attract an increasing audience from other nationalities.
